Being eco-friendly is something which really important to me as a small business and we have made lots of changes in the past year to work towards being both an ethical & sustainable jewellery brand. 🌿
We strive to ensure that our handmade jewellery is made from materials that are eco-friendly and sustainable for the environment. All of the Sterling Silver bullion products I use including sheet, wire, tube + grain are all 100% recycled silver and are supplied with a card of authenticity. Recycled silver is a sustainable alternative which reduces the demand for the mining of these precious metals. I also operate a zero waste policy; all scraps I collect over time are melted down to be re-used, re-shaped and made into something beautiful, shiny & new.
We also are aware of where our semi-precious gemstones, pearls etc are actually coming from, making sure they are responsibly sourced too and we will only buy from companies that offer the promise and guarantee of ethically sourced products.
We try to keep all waste to a minimum and always recycle where possible. We are plastic free, removed any unnecessary packaging & only use recyclable packing materials. Even our brown recyclable kraft paper packing tape is recyclable. It uses a natural rubber-based adhesive and is fully recyclable with the box or paper it is attached to (it is also vegan friendly!).
Our corrugated cardboard postal boxes + chloride / acid free tissue paper are reusable + recyclable and are both eco-friendly; made from FSC®-certified materials and meet strict requirements relating to toxic chemicals + products that are damaging to the environment or eco-system. The FSC mark guarantees that all materials come from an FSC forest, where no more wood is cut down than the forest can reproduce. This means better protection of the animal- and plant life, and all foresters have proper training, safety equipment and a decent wage.
We are really proud of the small steps we have already taken towards becoming a sustainable + responsible small business and as a brand, we want to be as transparent as possible and practice responsible sourcing including the use of ethically-sourced, cruelty-free + sustainable materials so that we have a minimal impact on the environment.
